1. About These Terms​

These Contributor Terms apply to anyone who submits a guide, photo, video, comment, or other content to DockDoc.

By submitting content, you agree to these terms in addition to the Terms of Use.

2. Your Ownership & Rights​

You confirm that:

  • The content you submit is your original work or you have explicit permission to publish it.

  • You retain full ownership of your content.

  • Uploading content you do not have the rights to is prohibited.

You simply grant DockDoc permission to use your content as described below.

3. License You Grant to DockDoc

By submitting content, you grant DockDoc a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to:

  • Publish, host, and display your content on the platform.

  • Edit for clarity, grammar, formatting, and safety.

  • Organize, categorize, and archive the content.

  • Promote it on DockDoc-related social channels and marketing materials.

This license is necessary for DockDoc to operate the platform and keep guides available to users.

4. Edits, Formatting & Monetization (Affiliate Links)

To keep DockDoc free for the boating community, we monetize traffic through affiliate partnerships. You acknowledge that:

  • Moderators may edit your content for formatting, clarity, safety, or consistency. We never change the core meaning of your guide.

  • DockDoc may insert or replace links with affiliate links (e.g., Amazon Associates, West Marine) without altering the product you recommend unless necessary for accuracy, quality, or safety.

  • You do not receive compensation from affiliate link revenue.

    This helps support DockDoc at no additional cost to you or other users and ensures standardized, safe, and compliant links across the platform.

5. Safety Requirements

Boat repair can involve real risks. You agree not to upload content that:

  • Is intentionally unsafe, misleading, or harmful.

  • Involves hazardous materials without appropriate warnings.

  • Encourages illegal actions or violates maritime regulations.

6. Responsibility & Liability

Guides on DockDoc are written by boaters, for boaters. You agree that:

  • Your content is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

  • DockDoc is not liable for any losses, injuries, or damages resulting from user-submitted content.

  • DockDoc is not responsible for misuse or misinterpretation of your content by others.

7. Removal & Updates

  • Your request: You may request updates or removal of your content anytime.

  • Our discretion: DockDoc may remove content that is unsafe, inaccurate, low-quality, or violates these terms.
